President’s Memorandum
Hello WRG Members,
Spring is here, a time of renewal and rebirth. Along with all the flowering plants and trees, the wild animals will also be busy. Baby squirrels have been coming in since early February and we’ve already had our first call for baby opossums. So, if you don’t have any babies to rehab contact Wendy W. so they can be distributed evenly. Many hands can make the workload easier and less burnout! Remember these helpless animals and the public are counting on our help.
Also, during the year, despite our best efforts, things will get hectic. Don’t forget to take a few minutes for yourself. Read part of that book you haven’t touched because you’ve been too tired, go pull a few weeds from that overgrown garden, call a friend, take a short walk, or just relax outside and listen to the birds and watch the wildlife around you.
We have several things going on in the upcoming months. Friends Day at Paris Mtn. State Park, April 26, Greenville Zoo Conservation Day, May 3rd, White Squirrel Festival in Brevard on May 24 & 25th, if you haven’t signed up call Wendy W. Please come to the WRG Potluck dinner on May 18th at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church from 5 – 7pm.
As a reminder, save your receipts for possible reimbursement later in the year.
Once again we want to thank everyone for all the effort you put forth through the year.
Sincerely,
Mary Kay F. and Wendy W.
F.Y.I. Bat calls can be referred to Foothills Animal Rescue at 282-1917.

**** Here are some great websites to check out! ****
Grubco sells mealworms, crickets and other delicious (ugh!) bugs at far better prices than the pet stores! You can find them at www.grubco.com! You can always buy a big bunch and split the cost with other rehabbers!
Save Our Saluda is a non-profit group that is working towards protecting the wild environment along the Saluda River valley. You can find out more at www.saveoursaluda.org.
Cherokee Foothills Environmental Defense is another non-profit group that is also working to preserving natural habitat in our area. You can find them at www.cfed.us. (If our critters have no homes, we are all in trouble!)
Bat Rescue! Check out www.batrescue.org for some really cool bat jewelry! The sale of these handmade items is used to help support Bat World.
If you have found an interesting website and would like to have it in the next newsletter, please contact Lee K.
